AVID 8th grader will be taking the PSAT 8/9 assessment.

 

What is the PSAT 8/9?

The PSAT 8/9 is a test that will help you and your teachers figure out what you need to work on most so that you’re  ready for college when you graduate from high school.

 

What are the benefits of the PSAT 8/9?

  • Establishes a baseline measurement for your college readiness
  • Tests the same skills and knowledge as SAT and PSAT 10 in a way that makes sense for your grade level
  • Score report will give you comprehensive, personalized feedback on your performance, allowing you to see which questions you answered incorrectly and which skills you need to work to improve.

 

What skills are tested on the PSAT 8/9?

  • You will be assessed on Reading, Writing and Language, and
  • Each test section assesses the academic skills you’ve developed over the years through your coursework.

 

What are the test sections like?

            Reading Test

  • 42 passage questions
  • All questions are multiple choice based on passages

Writing and Language Test

  • 40 passage-based questions
  • All questions are multiple choice based on passages

            Math Test

  • 2 sections
  • 38 questions
  • Calculators may be used on only one section

May use a scientific or graphing calculator, not phone!
